(Signifies red) 1. A name of Esau, possibly on account of his being covered with red hair
- Genesis 25:25 And the first came out red, all over like an hairy garment; and they called his name Esau.

2. A name of the land occupied by the descendants of Esau
It extended from the Elanitic Gulf to the Red Sea, and was also called IDUMEA
- Genesis 32:3 And Jacob sent messengers before him to Esau his brother unto the land of Seir, the country of Edom.
