2. One of the twelve apostles; a revolutionary and a patriot
Called "THE CANAANITE," (from the Hebrew root meaning "religious zeal"
- Matthew 10:4 Simon the Canaanite, and Judas Iscariot, who also betrayed him.
- Mark 3:18 And Andrew, and Philip, and Bartholomew, and Matthew, and Thomas, and James the son of Alphaeus, and Thaddaeus, and Simon the Canaanite,
Called "ZELOTES,"

- Luke 23:26 And as they led him away, they laid hold upon one Simon, a Cyrenian, coming out of the country, and on him they laid the cross, that he might bear it after Jesus.

7. The father of Judas Iscariot
